Yoga Therapy's Unique Approach

Yoga therapy is distinguished by its harmonious fusion of age-old yoga traditions and contemporary medical insights. Deeply rooted in the ancient art of yoga, it is further enriched by the latest discoveries in Western medicine, resulting in a comprehensive approach to health and well-being.

The central objective of yoga therapy is to empower individuals, enabling them to take an active role in their path to wellness and recovery. Through the seamless integration of principles derived from yoga, Ayurveda, and modern scientific research, yoga therapists guide their clients toward holistic health across physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual dimensions.

This personalized approach to health and wellness is carried out by trained professionals who specialize in tailoring yoga practices to address specific health concerns. Their expertise encompasses a wide range of yoga techniques, including asana (yoga poses), pranayama (breathing exercises), chanting, philosophy, and meditation. Effective yoga therapy hinges not only on knowledge of these practices but also on a profound understanding of their therapeutic application.

Our Foundations of Yoga Therapy Training

Excited to become a yoga therapist? It only takes one year to complete our Foundations of Yoga Therapy Program. But if you need to extend your timeline, you’re welcome to move at your own pace.

The Foundations Program consists of:

  • 50 pre-recorded lectures
  • Coursework
  • Assignments and online social network
  • Live Q&As with head teacher and Breathing Deeply creator, Brandt Passalacqua
  • 3 virtual/online learning retreat modules
  • Hands-on experience with other students

Since starting the program, I have obtained more tools and knowledge to help me recognize various non-physical issues and help my clients deal with them. It has been extremely useful to be able to better assist clients whose symptoms present as physical issues but they wind up having underlying trauma. I can now recognize this and provide them with an appropriate approach and the help they need.

Our Advanced Yoga Therapy Course and Certification

If deeper training or IAYT certification are your goals, make our Advanced Yoga Therapy Program part of your plan. You can complete our Foundations Program in one year and our Advanced Program in another, totaling just two years of training together.

The Advanced Program is made up of three parts:

  • The Foundations of Yoga Therapy Program
  • 8 week-long live virtual learning modules
  • Mentored practicum in the community

During the virtual retreats, students work around a schedule and learn from our Lead Teacher, Brandt, in real time. This creates a collaborative and enriching learning environment to tackle more advanced material. Under Brandt’s mentorship, students also undertake a practicum. The training culminates in a final exam and, if you wish, the IAYT exams for yoga therapy certification.

Start your career as a yoga therapist in a private practice or working in a facility in healthcare, addiction treatment, pain management, mental health, or social services, among others.

I am able to work with individuals with a wide range of challenges to help them heal themselves and come back into balance. Everything I need has been provided to me by these step-by-step, work-at-your-own-speed lessons. The support is always there for you. That is the best part of this program. You have support on your journey here and beyond finishing the program. It truly is a gift and an invaluable perk to choosing Breathing Deeply.
