Testimonials

Lisa McKenzie, Yoga Instructor & Therapist

I had been teaching yoga for over ten years and had been looking at yoga therapy programs for about four years when I found the Breathing Deeply Yoga Therapy program. What initially drew me to this particular program was primarily logistics: the ability to do the entire foundations program from my home if I chose. Upon starting the program, however, I realized my great fortune for finding Brandt and his wealth of knowledge and accessibility. Brandt’s ability to distil ancient practices into comprehensible, practical application in a true gift. I am receiving “industry skills” that give me the tools and confidence to work with people in a deeper way. I have been in the program for about a year and a half, am nearing the completion of my Foundations coursework and am already seeing clients on a regular basis. Before I signed up for Breathing Deeply Yoga Therapy I was unsure if I could ever do something like this, but I just kept plugging away at my studies and now I am doing it! I would highly recommend this program to anyone considering advancing their studies into yoga therapy.

Joni Newfrock, Yoga Teacher

“When I applied for the Breathing Deeply Yoga Therapy program, I was working one-on-one far more than teaching classes and I was moving forward professionally, building a committed client base. I was also moving from Georgia to Upstate New York permanently.

Since starting the program I have left all previous clients and professional connections. I took a month off teaching to reconnect with myself. I have created a stronger “off the mat” practice, implementing it into daily life.

There were several things that appealed to me about Breathing Deeply over other Yoga Therapy programs; the self-paced curriculum, accessibility to Brandt and the modern language style presentation of “ancient” healing modalities. Brandt’s presentation of the material makes it so understandable and digestible. He is an extremely gifted teacher because he takes knowledge and experience and teams it with his candid sense of humor. His disarming nature makes him relatable and he connects with each of his students.

To anyone considering the BDYT program I would say that aside from the professional training, this course will deepen your yogic practice with yourself. You will learn to love, understand and heal yourself if you choose.”

Jeannine McSorley, Nurse Practitioner & Yoga Teacher

What drew me to the Breathing Deeply program initially was the online component which made it cost-effective and convenient to study and work full time. Brandt has done an excellent job gathering teachings and knowledge from his years of studies and has compiled them in concise, informative and organized modules. Through his personal practice and commitment to excellence, Brandt imparts this knowledge in a clear, authentic, and fun way and both he and his wife Anna create safe space for our sangha of seekers to grow and learn together. As a nurse practitioner, I’m thrilled to add this body of knowledge to my tool kit as I move forward to help others relieve suffering and experience greater joy.

Danielle Tait, Yoga Teacher & Photographer

“I have been taking the Breathing Deeply Yoga Therapy Program for a little over a year now.  I wasn’t sure what to expect with an online course and how it would work with my work and family schedule, but I have been very impressed. I am extremely happy with how each lesson is a manageable amount of time and material covered, making it easy to fit into a busy day, while actually retaining the information no matter how complex it is.

Brandt is a wonderful teacher.  He has a great way of breaking down difficult material and making it accessible and easy to understand. This course has not only made me more confident when helping my students be safe and take care of their bodies, but it has deepened my own practice, as well.

The retreats have been a really special time to connect with Brandt and other students in the course, relax, and get hands-on experience working with others. I could not be happier with this training and I would recommend it to anyone looking to be a more confident and competent yoga teacher, wanting to pursue a yoga therapy education, and a desire to deepen and enliven their personal practice.”

Carol Day Young, PhD & Yoga Therapist

I feel so fortunate to have found Breathing Deeply Yoga Therapy training. After enrolling in the Foundations Course, I’ve now started the 875-hour training.

This is the complete package. The online lectures are great, and you can go back as many times as you need. The on-line practices in meditation, pranayama, and chanting have really helped me deepen my practice. The retreats are a joy with great camaraderie (and delicious food).

I participate weekly in the calls with Brandt. He is so helpful with any questions – big or small – about clients, my own practice, philosophy or homework. The calls and the retreats have helped me be a part of a larger community of interesting and engaged peers.

Most important, Brandt is a supportive and smart mentor of great integrity guiding us on the journey to serve as a Yoga Therapist.

Kathy Page, Yoga Therapist & Yoga Teacher

A yoga teacher friend who was taking this yoga therapy training recommended the Breathing Deeply Yoga Therapy program to me. Because of my busy and irregular schedule I liked the independent study, online format. I had been teaching group classes for about five years and wanted to expand my skills into teaching private clients. In a year and a half, I have finished the lectures and attended two retreats. I also join in the weekly mentoring sessions. The community of students is very supportive and Brandt is very available.  As part of the coursework, I am now working privately with some clients. I am using my yoga therapy knowledge, practicing my new skills, and getting mentored along the way.

Carly Lynn, Yoga Teacher & Kindergarten Teacher

I am learning so much and really enjoying the Breathing Deeply Yoga Therapy course. In our group of students, I am one of the least experienced, but find the information both a challenge and also accessible, which feels well balanced and encouraging! I’m grateful for Brandt’s depth of knowledge, gentle guidance, and a very non-intimidating environment. It has been inspiring!

Joe Simek, Yoga Therapist, Yoga Teacher & Studio Owner/Director

I highly recommend the Breathing Deeply Yoga Therapy Foundations Course for two reasons. One, it gives you a realistic and applicable skill set when working privately with clients, and two, it’s a comprehensive training that gives you personal facility with all aspects of yoga. You’ll be able to help balance your clients, as well as yourself. Brandt’s approachable personality and deep knowledge of yoga are refreshing and the online curriculum and retreat learning gives you flexibility in completing the course. As a yoga studio owner and father of two, I needed that! This training is a must for anyone who wants to make a living teaching yoga.

Tiffany Johnson, Yoga Teacher

I’ve been working with a client for three weeks with a yoga therapy sequence to help with his knock knees and bulging disc at L5.  It is very similar to the sequence that I’ve turned in for the lesson 16 assignment. This client has been very dedicated, working the sequence 4 to 5 times a week.

Today when we met, he was so happy!  His knees are starting to shift, his hips are opening and his sleep and mood have greatly improved.  He is so thankful for my yoga therapy training. This client was told to prepare for back surgery!

So, thank you, guys!  You are greatly improving the health and wellness of so many! I’m so glad that I am apart of Breathing Deeply!

With Gratitude,

Tiffany

Joyce Cooney, Yoga Teacher & Psychotherapist

“This retreat really put the online lessons into action, allowing for a better understanding of the overall process of working with clients as a yoga therapist.”

Debbie Simon, Yoga Therapist & Yoga Teacher

If you are an aspiring yoga therapist that is apprehensive about making the leap because of a hole in your learning around anatomy, this is the retreat for you. This week gave me so much confidence about how to read bodies and a much better understanding of anatomy and it was done in a way that fit my learning style. I felt like I had taken a huge leap forward. Brandt really knows how to make this complex topic simple. I can’t recommend this training enough.

Lisa Alexander, Yoga Therapist, Yoga Teacher & Studio Owner/Director

Healing Through The Body And Breath: A Yoga Therapy Perspective was everything I wanted it to be and more. The program included a hands-on approach peppered with the right amount of meditation, pranayama and yoga nidra. I left wanting more, but more importantly, I was inspired to continue these practices on a more consistent basis!

Gray Carr Griffin, Yoga Teacher

Brandt was organized and delivered the weekend in a concise manner that allowed us to simulate the information and put it into practice. It was an amazing workshop! I wish I could have stayed on for the week-long retreat.

Kelly Weaver, Yoga Teacher

The online retreat was a great alternative to the live retreat. I was surprised how connected I felt to Brandt and the students who participated given we were not together.

Alexis Ridge-Simek, Yoga Teacher & Studio Owner/Director

Breathing Deeply’s Yoga Therapist training has been a catalyst for me to intensely re-evaluate and reconstruct both my practice and the work I do with my group and private yoga clients.

Shervon Laurice, Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor & Yoga Therapist

As a licensed clinical professional counselor I have helped hundreds of people understand themselves better, develop healthy coping skills and make positive life changes.

Yet too often ‘talk therapy’ by itself is not enough. For people living with anxiety and the effects of trauma, talking is just the tip of the iceberg. For true balance to be restored, their somatic symptoms must be addressed.

The Breathing Deeply Yoga Therapy teacher training has helped me as a mental health professional to take a broader look at my work with clients.

It has given me fresh eyes, no longer only looking through the mental health lens I was originally trained with. I now also incorporate the lens of yoga in the work I do with clients.

This gives me a deeper understanding of what clients are going through. And the movement they might need to advance towards more healthy, balanced lives.

I would encourage other professionals looking to better help people living with the effects of trauma to consider the Breathing Deeply Yoga Therapy program.

Laurie Schaeffer, Nurse

When I applied to the Breathing Deeply Yoga Therapy program, I was searching for an avenue to work towards becoming a yoga therapist at a pace that would not only align with my life circumstances at that time, but in the long term as well.

The decision to pursue my studies with Breathing Deeply over other Yoga Therapy Programs was directly related to Brandt. I was struck by his presence during an initial conversation. He is ever mindful of the long-term considerations of his students. He is not one to simply go through the motions when he teaches, his integrity in the learning experience is clear. I was also glad I had the option to attend retreats remotely. At one retreat, I was for a time after Brandt’s guidance on pranayama where I had a broken arm. I am so grateful to feel part of a community from afar. I have been able to integrate key things from the retreats that have impacted my life in a profound way.

Anyone considering the Breathing Deeply Yoga Therapy program should know that Brandt embodies the tradition in presence, spirit, and wisdom. He shares the practices in such an accessible manner that before you know it the “aha” is there.

Lilia Wills, Yoga Teacher & TESOL Teacher

So pleased and grateful for this first retreat experience. Brandt is a knowledgeable, humble, funny and an approachable teacher and the classmates were interesting and enjoyable!

Even the food was tasty.

This overall experience of this retreat has left me content and grateful that I chose this particular Yoga Therapy course! Gratitude and bliss.
