Since training with Breathing Deeply, I have more confidence working with clients one on one. I am also more easily able to see their imbalances and what they may need to find balance.
When I enrolled, I had been considering yoga therapy training for a long time, but my separation and divorce were the encouragement I needed. I chose Breathing Deeply partly because it was online. But also because I appreciated Brandt’s straightforward approach to yoga and yoga therapy.
On a personal level, the Breathing Deeply teachings including the doshas and the imbalances that can occur have spoken to me along with the therapeutic approaches to anxiety.
Generally, I’m much more aware of my individual client’s needs as well as their potential imbalances.
The first valuable part of the program for me is that it was online. I live in Northern Ontario, nowhere near a school teaching yoga therapy. I don’t have the resources to travel. So that component was very important to me. Secondly, the weekly online calls were also very helpful. If I had questions, it was helpful to ask a real, live person. 🙂 Also, it was a very useful learning tool just to sit in on the call even if I didn’t have any questions myself.
I am now a yoga teacher who shares a studio with another yoga teacher. I am offering yoga therapy as an option along with private sessions and group classes. I am also offering semi-private yoga therapy sessions for specific issues including anxiety.
One of my case study clients had anxiety, some tension issues, and low back pain. I gave her the JFS for her back, and Spine Breath for a breath practice/meditation. She really connected to the spine breath and did well with the JFS. Over time we realized that shorter practices would be more beneficial for her. So I recorded and gave her three short practices she could do at her desk at work. She really enjoyed them.
In the end, she connected deeply with the spine breath and used it to calm her nerves. She began to approach her anxiety from a different perspective and was able to begin to discern what she needed. I was especially proud of that moment….helping a client begin to determine what they need for themselves.
This training exceeded my expectations. I felt equipped to begin to see, and help clients. I also felt supported as I could ask questions at any time on the live calls, or rewatch the videos whenever I needed to.
I would want anyone considering the Breathing Deeply Yoga Therapy Program to know that online training can still be personal. Even though there are students from all over the world at Breathing Deeply, there is still a community feel!
