Yoga Therapy's Unique Approach

Yoga therapy differs from other approaches to wellness because of the unique way it blends tradition and modernity.

Trained yoga therapists combine the ancient practices of yoga and Ayurveda with present-day medicinal knowledge, creating a one-of-a-kind treatment experience that addresses physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health.

In this way, yoga therapy is a holistic approach to wellness, and clients are empowered to take a hands-on role in their journey to healing.

Yoga therapists are professionals who act as their clients’ guide, meaning we create personalized treatment plans for each client and teach clients how to use them to heal. We are trained in physical techniques, such as asana (yoga poses), pranayama (breathing exercises), and chanting, as well as philosophy, meditation, and more.

With the knowledge of how to apply such techniques therapeutically, yoga therapists can tailor them to the individual at hand, addressing the client’s specific needs.

What Are the Benefits of Getting Yoga Therapy Training?

  • Explore New Career Paths: Completing yoga therapy training in Austin opens new avenues for your career. You can work as a general yoga therapy practitioner or specialize in treating specific conditions. Be your own boss by starting a private practice, or work in any number of healthcare settings, such as hospitals, mental health departments, addiction centers, pain management facilities, chiropractors’ offices, wellness centers, schools, and more.
  • Expand Your Clientele: Being a yoga therapist can allow you to connect with more clients due to having more in-depth training and experience. Those who teach yoga classes, for example, can move into therapeutic offerings. If you already work as a healthcare provider, learning yoga therapy gives you a larger skill set to draw on, bringing in more clients.
  • Increase Your Income: Because yoga therapists offer specialized, therapeutic services that go beyond yoga teacher certifications, clients will be willing to pay you more for your expertise. If you have a background in healthcare already, adding yoga therapy to your repertoire only makes you more valuable.
  • Provide Individualized Treatments: No matter your work background, one of the major draws of yoga therapy for our students is the ability to provide individualized treatments to clients. A one-size-fits-all approach doesn’t work for everyone, leaving many people struggling to find effective care. Yoga therapists have the tools to bridge this gap.
  • Offer Physical Health Support: Yoga therapy training will enable you to respond to a wide range of physical conditions, including but not limited to the following.
    • Arthritis
    • Autoimmune diseases

Our Foundations of Yoga Therapy Training

Students interested in becoming yoga therapists can complete our Foundations of Yoga Therapy Program. Our online model allows learners to participate at any pace, and the full program can be completed in as little as a year.

The Foundations Program consists of:

  • 50 pre-recorded lectures
  • Coursework
  • Assignments and online social network
  • Live Q&As with head teacher and Breathing Deeply creator, Brandt Passalacqua
  • 3 virtual/online learning retreat modules
  • Hands-on experience with other students

As a trauma-informed yoga teacher at a residential addiction recovery program for women, I was constantly bumping up on my own limitations in addressing clients’ physical pain and concerns. Yoga Therapy and training with Breathing Deeply seemed like the correct avenue to deepen my knowledge about safety in poses, pain relief, and recovery from long-standing health issues.

This program and school has completely exceeded my expectations! I was worried about jumping into a new “form” of yoga and having to integrate new knowledge with previous knowledge… But this happened seamlessly as the BDYT program is built upon real foundations of yoga, and not on any “special” perspective that is separate from other yoga.

Our Advanced Yoga Therapy Training and Certification

Have you completed the Foundations Program and want to learn even more? Successful completion of our Advanced Yoga Therapy Program will make you eligible for C-IAYT, the highest yoga therapy certification available.

The Advanced Program is made up of three parts:

  • The Foundations of Yoga Therapy Program
  • 8 week-long live virtual learning modules
  • Mentored practicum in the community

The program offers a balance of anatomy and the chakras, energy and consciousness. I highly recommend new students engage in the Q&A’s and forum early on. The retreats are a great way to meet your fellow students. I cannot underscore the value of those relationships more. I have made lifelong friends through Breathing Deeply.
