When I applied to the Breathing Deeply Yoga Therapy Program, I taught yoga to students with injuries, and now, from all I have learned, my confidence level in working with this demographic of students is better.
My yoga teaching has completely changed! I’ve learned a lot about including specific pranayamas and meditations that work for my clients on an individual level as well as teaching to the general public. I’ve also learned a lot of postures that I can pick and choose from based on what is helpful to the clients I see. I have learned so much about how and why to use specific modalities and a lot about helping people with injuries and pain.
On a personal level, I have also developed a meditation practice, and I feel that I can support my body more sustainably.
This program has exceeded my expectations. I love how it is not dogmatic but more practical and applicable to a larger population. The program is very inclusive, supportive of the students, and dedicated to their growth and knowledge. The self-paced setup worked well for me as a busy mom and entrepreneur.
Since Foundations, I have used yoga therapy concepts in my group yoga classes, and I plan to continue developing a private practice working with individuals with injuries and chronic pain.
I have helped a ton of people with joint movements just through the Joint Freeing Series (JFS) we use. Many of my students have also started a simple meditation practice! One specific client I worked with has rheumatoid arthritis and spondylosis. Another client has shoulder injuries and anxiety. I helped them quite a bit and have seen a general inflammation reduction for many of my students!
