A lot has changed for me since starting the Breathing Deeply Yoga Therapy Program! Personally, I feel more grounded and empowered. I am passionate about all I have learned, and my teaching mindset has evolved!
When I applied to Breathing Deeply, I was in the process of deepening my yoga knowledge while taking Iyengar classes. My teacher often spoke about yoga therapy notions; it seemed very interesting, but I couldn’t understand anything!
So, I decided to look for a yoga therapy training. As I researched schools and was confronted with a misalignment in how they offered programming, or worked with me administratively. When I found the Breathing Deeply Yoga Therapy Program, I was right away attracted with it, specifically the flexibility with the remote format associated with the daily live mentoring Q&As along with the “no pressure” aspect.
The Breathing Deeply teachings & philosophy has been incredibly helpful. When I enrolled, I was going through childhood trauma that I have managed to overcome. I am more grounded, more at peace. My anger is gone. I feel the same, as sensitive as I was, but without being overwhelmed by my emotions. That is a huge relief, very empowering, very freeing.
The most valuable part of this training has been the meditation part and working with the deeper koshas, which were in fact my new learnings, the piece of the puzzle I was missing and looking for.
It has also allowed me the understanding the body as a whole, and using different frameworks to assess. A bonus is that it has also helped me to reconnect with Pilates (which I teach)—I was finding it boring before and now I understand its powerful therapeutic aspect.
I have seen a shift in my teaching and I am more grounded. Through this training, I helped myself heal first, and because of that, I have developed more of a therapeutic relationship with clients rather than a basic teacher/student relationship.
For example, in my yoga classes, I start by explaining the impact of the breath on the nervous system, then I teach either three part breath or Nadi Shodana, at last, I let my students decide their own rhythm according to how they feel and how they need at that moment: Langhana if they feel overwhelmed or anxious, Brahmana if they need more energy. In both Pilates and Yoga classes, I always share a bit of philosophy!
During the foundations part of the training, my two case studies were quite successful, both my clients are happy, but the real success for me is that they are now on the path of awareness and have the tools to keep it.
My first case study was about severe panic attacks, that my client started to manage better and then reduce the frequency, by developing sensitivity and awareness about grounding.
My second case study was about Upper Cross Syndrome and acute tiredness, which my client succeeded to reduce through developing awareness while gaining more strength.
This program is very well designed. The remote access paired with live Q&As are keys: flexibility in your learnings but also monitoring. I have an engineering background so I appreciate the way the course is built! It is very logical, well-explained, and accessible.
