Since starting my yoga therapy training with Breathing Deeply, I have become more attuned to the concerns of my patients, friends, and family, and I connect east and west modalities to assist with healing.

When I applied for the program during the Pandemic, I was witnessing an increase in anxiety, concerns, and depression in society.

Now, the connection of the koshas has enhanced my personal connection with myself. My clients acknowledged the importance of movement and breathing during our yoga sessions. I shared gratitude with my clients for their commitment to healing themselves.

I expected to learn more modalities to assist my patients who didn’t use pharmacological interventions. I was able to use the training immediately with family, friends, clients, and patients. I worried the program would not be detailed enough, and this expectation exceeded my worry. The Breathing Deeply program has enhanced my personal and clients’ well-being by incorporating robust yoga modalities. I enjoyed learning with the cohort and the retreats. The program has enhanced my curiosity to explore advancements in meditation, trauma yoga, and somatic therapy.

One of my clients had several concerns, including shoulder stiffness, constipation, and OA, and this client had a pleasant outcome: she invited me, along with seven other females, to do a weekend yoga retreat. The positive response has helped others understand the importance of individual/small group work and how it can assist with a healing process in the body.

I have and continue to use multiple yoga modalities for family, friends, and patients. I have opportunities when patients come to my urgent center in assisted living/independent living to share meditation and movement/breathing. I am thinking about conducting classes for my patients to decrease stiffness/OA pain/anxiety/insomnia, etc. I may start a small group and I am ready for the practicum!
