Foundations Program Graduate
Advanced Program Student
Yoga Therapist & Yoga Teacher
Since I began with Breathing Deeply, I have learned so much about the therapeutic benefits of yoga… and how yoga can be a healing force for so many people and for so many conditions. I have developed a great deal of confidence both as a yoga teacher and as a yoga therapist.
When I applied, I knew I was at a turning point in my life, leaving behind a long profession in academia and moving into a more healing place in my life. I wanted to bring yoga to others, but more than that, I wanted to bring the healing benefits of yoga to others. I chose Breathing Deeply because it seemed like it was one of the more accessible programs. I also liked that it offered the Foundation’s Program with the option to matriculate into the Advanced Program once the Foundations Program was completed.
The importance of meditation is one change for me personally since I enrolled… and that we cannot teach this to our clients if we do not practice ourselves. The change: I meditate a lot more… and I’ve become good at it!!
Additionally, my teaching is much more thoughtful now… I consider so much more about my students. I also incorporate much more breathwork.
I would say that the most useful/valuable part of the program for me is that the Q&As are amazing. I learned so much by being there, listening to others, and asking questions… they are an incredible resource for yoga therapists and yoga therapists in training! The Advanced Program retreats are also just so incredible. So much critical information… I learn so much!!
I have gotten much more than I ever expected from this program. Wow. I did not think it would be as rigorous as it is… I also didn’t know that I would have so much to learn…I was worried about losing interest because it is so self-directed, but on the contrary, I was continuously intrigued and felt very engaged throughout, even while I was working a full-time job outside of my yoga work.
During Foundations, I worked with someone with metabolic syndrome and this case study has been a success. My client learned so much and was able to make a few significant changes in her habits. She was able to achieve a greater sense of well-being and a healthier sense of herself. I think she also developed a healthier approach to her relationship not only with food but with others. She was deeply appreciative of our work together…
To anyone considering this program, you will be so happy that you chose the Breathing Deeply school and program. Satisfaction guaranteed… if you are willing to commit to the work and the study. At this time, I focused 100% on yoga teaching and yoga therapy. I left my previous career (early retirement) and am working on developing my yoga therapy practice. Website coming soon…. 🙂

There’s no doubt that yoga is gaining popularity, but you may be asking yourself, what is the most popular type of yoga? Where is each type most popular in the U.S. and around the world? Friends in Yoga, Sitting on a cushion, taking a yoga class, chanting a mantra before your morning coffee…no one would call these radical acts. They are small choices that we make to better ourselves. The motivation to practice often takes form by our desire to be healthier, to be more focused, to connect with our […]
