Since I began as a student in the Breathing Deeply Yoga Therapy Program, I have shifted my practice beyond yoga asana, as I am meditating and doing yoga nidra daily. I have let go of a relationship and really starting to heal from past losses and traumas.

At the time I applied to Breathing Deeply, I was in the midst of completing a 300-hour Hatha training and felt like it wasn’t the best fit for what I was looking for in terms of being directly applicable to clinical work. I chose Breathing Deeply based on the information presented online, the flexibility of the timetable for completing the program, and the accessibility of having virtual meetings and retreats.

Learning and using the Doshic and Koshic frameworks have contextualize my personal practice. I have become more dedicated to my practice and sharing my knowledge with others, including clients, I have accepted expanded my private practice and am also teaching at a wellness center and community center.

I expected that, through this training, I’d become competent in using yoga therapy in my treatment of clients with emotional and behavioral concerns. I was not expecting to learn so much about anatomy and treating physical concerns. This was really good for me to be exposed to and required to learn.

Additionally, working with clients on connecting with agency to alter and/or accept emotional states. Recognizing that “knowing” is a body-based and energy construct, not simply an intellectual concept.

When asked “What was the most useful/valuable part of the program for you?” I respond with “Oh gosh…so much.” The intensive week-long trainings and the accessibility of Brandt and TAs through virtual meetings is a unique highlight.

To anyone considering this training, I would say that if there’s even a part of you that is curious about yoga therapy, you should dive in. You can self-pace, ask for help as you go, and you’ll find the experience, information, and relationships to be game-changing.

One yoga therapy client case study is about a 20-year-old client with a history of complex trauma. She has completed IOP treatment for trauma and was continuing to experience significant anxiety and related executive functioning impairment. After a few months of trauma focused yoga therapy (weekly in-session and a few times a week at home), she is experiencing less anxiety and is less easily triggered, better relationships with her adoptive parents, and higher academic functioning.

Thank you so much for this life changing experience.
